This farmhouse-inspired kitchen retrofit reimagines the existing space around a generously scaled island that anchors daily life in the home. Rather than treating the island as an add-on, the layout, structure, and systems were carefully reworked to make it feel integral to the original footprint. Open shelving was introduced in place of select upper cabinetry to lighten the room visually and reinforce the relaxed, utilitarian character of the farmhouse style. Through a fully integrated design-build process, traditional materials and simple profiles were paired with precise construction and modern performance. The result is a kitchen that feels grounded, functional, and timeless—seamlessly blending new work into the home’s original architecture.
