About MSB Design/Build
MSB was founded by Matthew Shannon-Browne. Matt is West Virginia born and Mount Pleasant, Washington, D.C., raised. Matt comes by his construction knowledge through genetics and 29+ years of experience. His father, Charlie Browne, is a general contractor and principal in Browne Brothers, which has built thousands of homes in the region for EYA, Coscan Brookfield Homes, Christopher Companies, and other smaller builders. Matt began working with Browne Brothers in 1995 and went on to become a partner in the company, where he supervised the framing, exterior trim, and window/door installation for hundreds of upscale homes in and around Washington.

As the production framing business slowed in 2006, Matt left Browne Brothers to begin a remodeling company. He has worked individually and with teams of licensed contractors and designers since that time, starting MSB Design Build LLC in 2008. The MSB team has worked with residential clients, restaurant owners and commercial property owners to provide design and construction experience to build-out and maintain properties in the DC area.​

Mateo Escobosa joined the team in March 2025. He holds a degree in Architecture from the University of Maryland and brings experience from both architecture and interior design firms. Mateo supports the studio through design development, CAD drafting, 3D rendering, and project management.

Our Services
We offer full-service design-build solutions, guiding projects from early concept through completion. Our process begins with schematic design to define goals, scope, and budget, followed by hands-on project management throughout construction. We stay closely involved through final details, ensuring each project is thoughtfully executed and delivered with care.
Schematic Design
We begin by meeting with clients to understand their goals, budget, and overall scope of work. From these initial conversations, we develop a preliminary estimate and schematic design that establishes the project’s direction before moving into detailed planning.
Project Management
Our team remains actively involved throughout construction, working on site with trades to make real-time decisions and maintain clear communication with clients. This hands-on approach ensures quality, efficiency, and alignment with the original design intent.
Project Completion
As the project comes together, we focus on the details that matter. From final adjustments to thorough walkthroughs, we ensure every element is resolved with care, delivering a finished project that meets both our standards and our clients’ expectations.
